What Is XERECEPT?

XERECEPT, also known as human corticotropin-releasing factor, (hCRF), is a hormone found in the human brain and other parts of the body. The medication that is used in this study is a synthetic product identical to the hormone that occurs naturally in your body.

This hormone:
  • has been studied in children and in adults, including pregnant women
  • may reduce the brain swelling (edema) associated with your tumor and as a result, decrease your neurological symptoms
Celtic Pharma is currently conducting clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this product. It is an investigational drug, not yet approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
